About us

Training the crews behind every broadcast

We are a UK audiovisual production school for people who want to build, light, shoot and mix television and live events to a professional standard.

Our story

Built by engineers who got tired of guesswork

penmira began in a rented television studio, where a small group of engineers noticed the same problem on every job: talented people arriving without a shared way of working. Studio design, camera control, lighting and sound were taught separately, if at all.

We designed one course that follows the signal chain from the empty room to the finished programme. Today our learners join network teams, production companies and live event crews across the United Kingdom.

What we believe

Three principles behind every session

Learn by doing

Every module ends at the equipment. You rig, shade, mix and cue until the routine is second nature.

Standards that travel

We teach practices used by UK networks and event companies, so your skills move with you.

Calm under pressure

Live production is a team sport. We rehearse communication as carefully as we rehearse kit.

How we teach

Real studios, real rigs, real deadlines

  • Small cohorts so everyone gets time on the equipment
  • Tutors who still work on live shows each month
  • Real briefs from partner broadcasters and venues
